Although not my favorite, Fate actually does the system well. Some good books and media actually do the multiverse theory justice but they then get twisted into things like this. It's just so annoying to see this explanation in so many fics. This automatically rules out many fictions. For example, something not physically possible with an absolutely 0% chance of happening wouldn’t be a possibility in an alternate universe. The multiverse theory exists, but unless the choices taken to get to a possibility are actually possible it doesnt exist. It's so annoying because this version only exists as a writing excuse or a handwave, and people want to believe it since it makes them happy to think that the cool things they read about actually exist. I hate it when amateur fictions try to explain the multiverse thing. (Just because I defend Carol doesn't mean i like her, I only do it because the fandom has no idea who Carol is, and only think of her as fanon Carol). Jaby might be one of the few MC's willing to call her on the whole cheating thing just to see her squirm, which i would love, cuz she definitely deserves it.
Like at this point Canon and Fanon Carol are two completely different people. I think I've only read one story where it came to light and had consequences, everyone else just loves to turn their fics into cringy HP bash fics and make Carol out to be some 2D caricature, frothing at the mouth mad woman who doesn't love her daughter. I realise the MC's supposed to come across as random and insane, but if he's tactful enough, and empathetic enough to drop a conversation cuz it would make someone uncomfortable, then by that logic he wouldn't of mentioned it to begin with.Īlso when it comes to Carol, the one thing that you never really see get brought up is the cheating.
